Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot powder review.

The Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot powder is one awesome product. It is a translucent powder designed to mattify your skin and leave a velvet finish.

I'd heard a lot about this product before purchasing but haven't found many powders that do exactly what they say on the tin so I really didn't think the Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot powder would be any different - but how wrong was I?

This product seriously does do its job. The powder picks up very easy on to my makeup brush and glides on the skin like a dream. It doesn't disrupt the rest of my makeup and helps control any shine. It doesn't even completely mattify my face, which I prefer. I do want any shiny areas to be controlled but I am definitely not one for a completely matte finish.

As to its lasting powder this is pretty darn impressive too. I can go to work all day and don't have to worry about touching up.

Overall, I believe the Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot powder is an awesome product by Soap & Glory. I really need to try some more products from their makeup range. What's your favourite Soap & Glory product?

The Mascara Edit.

Over the last 6-9 months or so I have built up quite the mascara collection - seven in total to be precise! I thought today I would share with you mini reviews, my favourites and whether I would repurchase. I'll give you a quick sneak peak; 6/7 mascaras are all ones I have been impressed by.

The first mascara in my collection is the L'Oreal Miss Manga Mascara. I love this mascara and it is one of the best mascaras I've ever found. It creates volumised, lengthy lashes completely clump-free! This is probably down to the enlarging collagen contained in the mascara's formula. This is definitely a mascara I want to repurchase.

Next is another L'Oreal mascara, this time the famous L'Oreal False Lash Telescopic Mascara, another favourite of mine. Yes, I do love my L'Oreal mascaras. I'd describe the result of this mascara as relatively similar to the Miss Manga with less volume. It helps create a false lash effect with really long lashes, again clump-free. What I love about this one is the brush - it's like a comb, so you can easily brush through your lashes without missing a single one. Another mascara I would definitely repurchase.

The third mascara is the a la Carte Divine Lash Mascara. This is a mascara I actually received in a beauty box having never heard of the brand before, but I am so glad I discovered this mascara. It can create either natural or dramatic lashes depending on whether you apply more than one coat. And guess what, this one doesn't clump either. If this mascara was more readily available I would also happily repurchase this one.

Next up is the Clinique High Impact Mascara. Another mascara aimed at creating volume but one I'd say creates a softer look on the lashes. This mascara is one of my favourites for every-day wear. It can be layered to create a stronger look but sometimes clumps so I tend to steer away from doing this. I would quite like to repurchase the full size of this mascara to test it further.

Ah the next mascara is an interesting one, one everyone seems to love but one I'm personally not so sure on. The Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde Mascara is a mascara which has a spherical wand that's meant to lash every coat in a 360 degree turn. I do agree it does this but it's just one that I've never been impressed by the results. I don't find it creates mass amount of volume, more of an every-day look and also find it clumps relatively easy. Unfortunately this is the mascara I wouldn't repurchase.

The Body Shop Super Volume Mascara is another mascara aimed at creating volume - I do love having voluminous lashes if you haven't guessed. I find this mascara adds length and volume in one easy stroke, and never clumps. A basic but awesome mascara that does exactly what it says on the tin. I would repurchase this mascara.

The last mascara in this mascara edit is the newly released Benefit Roller Lash. I'm not one to be particularly fussed by Benefit but this is one mascara I can't seem to put down. I love the way it separates my lashes and creates volume. It also seems to create an amazing curl in my lashes, not something I've ever come across before. This is definitely an awesome creation from Benefit in my opinion, and if you haven't guessed yes of course I want to repurchase the full size one.

And that's the end of my mascara edit, I think my all-time favourites would have to be between the Benefit Roller Lash and the L'Oreal Miss Manga mascara.

What are your favourite mascaras? Is there any you think I should give a go? Let me know in the comments below.

Beauty bits I got for my birthday.

I shared with you all about my birthday day in my last post but today it's time to share the beauty bits I received. I always like to have a nose at what people get so I hope this is something you want to see and enjoy.

birthday beauty
Dr Jart Soap & Glory

The first product I am going to talk about is one that has been on my wishlist for so long I had actually forgotten about it until my sister asked me what I wanted for my birthday; I was so excited to see you brought it for me. The Dr Jart water fuse BB cream is a beauty balm that has made it's way around the beauty blogs. It is said to create a "natural, bright and glossy application" to create "natural, fresh looking skin." I have only tried the product once so far but I definitely love the finish it provided; dewy looking skin.

I also received a long-term favourite of mine; the Soap & Glory 5 in 1 micellar cleansing water. I have tried a fair few micellar water cleansers and can safely say this is the best one I've found so far. I love the soft cucumber scent this one has compared to the usual no scent micellar waters seem to have. It instantly awakens my skin in the mornings when I'm getting up and want to start my beauty routine by giving my skin a quick wipe over.

I also got a Soap & Glory Hand Food, can you tell I love Soap and Glory? This is actually one product I haven't tried, but one I have always wanted to try. It is currently sat by my bedside table so I'll let you know my thoughts once I've used it a bit more.
Lush bubble bar

Ah, Lush goodies... what more can a girl want? I can't get enough of their products. I received two bubble bars; the Ultraviolet one and the Rose Jam Bubblerooon. The Ultraviolet one has a distinct violet smell, mixed with jasmine and I'm hoping will make my bath purple. It's one I've lusted after since I first saw it. The second is one I've tried before - a gorgeous rose smelling bubble bath that fills the whole house.

Katy Perry Killer Queen

The last beauty bit was a perfume from Katy Perry, the Killer Queen's Royal Revolution. I don't tend to go for celebrity perfumes but loved the look of the bottle of this and my boy surprised me by purchasing it.

It's described as a bold fragrance meant to create an irresistible feel. I'd describe it as a slightly fruity scent mixed with an evening smell somehow - I apologise for my rubbish description haha. It's very different to any of my other perfumes but I can see it being perfect for Spring/Summer and have been wearing it everyday since I received it.

So there you have it, have you received any surprise beauty bits lately? What are you currently lusting after?

I turned 23 years old.

On Tuesday I turned the grand old age of 23, or as I always say 21 + 2 (I'm staying 21 forever) so I thought I'd share with you all my day through photos.

To start the day off after it reaching midnight and me singing "it's my birthday, it's my birthday" constantly the boy gave me one of my presents early - a bottle of my favourite wine, which we shared.

We spent the day chilling and have a generally lazy day. We then got ready to go out, above is a picture of us just before we went out.

Prezzo
Prezzo Honeycomb Cheesecake
I got lucky and was treated to a gorgeous meal out at Prezzo. We both went for the Fusilli Alla Rusticana for the main, an amazing tomato tasting pasta mixed with peppers and bacon for extra taste. For pudding we had to go for the Honeycomb Cheesecake, my all-time favourite pudding - I need to learn how to make it myself, it's that good! I definitely recommend you trying it yourself if you haven't already.

To finish my birthday off we went to Turtle Bay, an awesome cocktail restaurant in Southampton.

All in all I had an awesome day. Oh and just in case you were wondering I did get a few beauty bits which I will be sharing with you all shortly.

Put yourself on a shopping ban? Here's 5 ways to cope with said shopping ban.

shopping ban

Over the last few months I have been trying my best not to spend money on any new beauty products unless needed. It has been difficult, but it has helped me start to use up a fair few of my beauty products and stopped me spending money with no reason.

Disclaimer, I did go on a bit of a spending spree last payday but 3 out of 7 beauty products were needed and that was the first time since before Christmas which is pretty impressive for me.

That said, I thought I'd share with you 5 ways to cope with a shopping ban.

  1) Leave your bank card at home if you work near town - I work in the middle of the city centre so on my lunch break and after work I'm always tempted to pop into Boots or John Lewis, especially now I work next door to Boots. With no bank card, even if you find yourself in your local beauty store how are you going to pay for things? You can't, which not only stops you but also makes you think again about that purchase. If you do need cash for lunch just bring a fiver or so in change.

2) Shop your stash - Want a new foundation or the latest MAC collection? What about those 5 other foundations you have sitting in your collection? Why not give them a go... you never know you might find a new favourite which has cost you a total of £0.00. As to wanting the latest MAC collection I'm sure you have plenty of products similar no matter how pretty or tempting the packaging is of the latest collection (recently the Cinderella collection!).

3) Make your own products! - Some beauty products are relatively simple to make using regular ingredients around the house such as sugar and oil so why not give it a try and make your own beauty products? Something like a body scrub is simple to make, but could also be a fun way to experiment without hitting the shops.

4) Cancel those tempting automatic email subscriptions - So you check your emails when you wake up and up pop at least 20 emails from everywhere and anywhere online detailing their newest products and/or latest offers and you want to click and add some items to your basket? Is this you? I know they are extremely tempting but if you scroll to the bottom of the emails there is an unsubscribe button to fix this. I know you want to know all about the latest offers, but just think how less likely you are to go to that website with no email. It is defintely one that gets me every time haha.

5) Enjoy other luxuries - For many people shopping is addictive and your heart skips a beat when you get the newest product you've just read about; you can fill this with something else. Why not go out for a meal with that money you've saved or put the money towards a holiday? I know for me a holiday is worth more than that extra makeup product I already have something similar too. A luxury that I can easily afford by not splurging all my money.

So there's my 5 ways to cope with a shopping ban for you - I hope you have found this useful and has given you some new ideas.

Are you on a spending ban currently? What helps stop you spending? Let me know in the comments below, and don't forget to share my post using my new share widget below if you found this useful.

Makeup Revolution Iconic 3 Palette full review and swatches.

So I finally brought a product from Makeup Revolution last pay day; the Makeup Revolution Redemption Palette in Iconic 3. Known as a dupe for the Urban Decay Naked Palette I finally managed to find the palette in stock in my local Superdrug.

Makeup Revolution Iconic 3

The palette contains a total of 12 shades including pearl, matte and shimmer finishes, all neutral variations of the colour pink. The eyeshadows include both lighter and darker shades.

So, what did I think of the Makeup Revolution Iconic 3 palette itself? I know the brand have got a lot of coverage for themselves in recent months but wow am I impressed. These shadows provide massive payoff from just one swipe, which for some reason I really wasn't expecting.

Go Makeup Revolution! They have created a bargain buy that I really believe provides the result of something you would expect to be far more expensive.

As to the formula of the shadows themsleves, that is near perfect as well. Some of the shimmer shades do tend to flake as you apply the eyeshadows to your brush, but at the bargain price of £4 it's not something I am going to complain about. The pearl and matte shadows don't seem to do this at all.

The swatches are all in order of the eyeshadows on the palette, starting from the lighter shades.

Overall, I love this eyeshadow palette from Makeup Revolution and can't wait to get trying more of their products. All of the shades included are ones I would wear everyday, and I love the variation of finishes. The payoff is fantastic, and they also seem to last all day. I'm definitely glad I finally delved into Makeup Revolution. If you want to pick up a palette they can be found in selected Superdrug stores and online.

Have you tried any Makeup Revolution products? What have been your favourites? Let me know in the comments below.

Mid-month favourites March 2015.

Having not written any favourites for a good few months now I thought it was about time I rectify that. I thought I'd do things slightly differently and have decided to do a mid-month favourites as opposed to and end-of-month favourites. They will be mainly beauty favourites, but possibly with the odd other favourite

First up is an oil burner and rose oil I got as part of my Valentines present, and one I haven't stopped using since use. I've never had an oil burner before but remember how well the smell filled the room when I worked at The Body Shop and this one doesn't fail to impress. I love using it with the rose oil. the smell does instantly fill the room and lasts for hours on end. A definite favourite of mine this past month.

Next up is my MAC duo palette from my recent haul, including the shades Beautiful Iris and Cranberry. I love using Beautiful Iris, the purple colour, to brighten up my eyes. It doesn't give the biggest colour payoff without being coated a couple of times but it's worth the effort for the finished result. The darker red shade, Cranberry, works surpirsingly well alongside - I've been using this either to create a smoky look or just along my crease.

The Bleach Blonde Silver shampoo is next on my favourites. I love how much of a difference this makes to my hair; it is instantly brighter after using this and has definitely been a big favourite of mine. Blonde hair fades, this has helped reverse that; I think any girl who has blonde hair should give it a go.

The Real Techniques miracle complexion sponge is another product I have been loving, a product I've barely touched since purchasing but has been a lifesaver in recent weeks. For some reason my skin has decided it doesn't like a brush being used to apply foundation and not blending particulaly well so I thought I'd give the Real Techniques Complexion Sponge a little go and haven't looked back. Once popped in water to expand it seems to create the most flawless finish blending everything perfectly. I'm sure I will go back to using a brush but I am so glad I discovered how good this sponge is.

Ahh, the Rose Jam shower gel from Lush is amazing. Yes, another rose product this month (it's my new favourite body product scent). I love how soft this leaves my skin feeling and is one I've been using nearly every shower/bath. I have actually finished the bottle now but I have to say I'm impressed, I defnitely need to try more of their shower gels. Besides, whenever I use a Lush product the whole flat ends up smelling of Lush, doesn't everyone want that?

Next is the Indian Night Jamsine EDT from The Body Shop; a favourite of mine last summer has made it back into my favourites. I love this smell; I'd describe it as an evening sensual smell that's fairly strong. The smell also lasts all day when used.

My last favourite is more of a lifestyle one; my yoga mat. I have been watching yoga videos a lot recently and have been loving using this to follow the routines. It means I don't have to break my back on the hard floor either so a win win and favourite for me.

And, we're done... if you managed to read all that you deserve a chocolate gold medal. That's my favourites for the month; have you used any of the products I mentioned? What have you been loving lately?
