I know what you’re thinking, not more purchases but my only excuse is I have wanted both products for ages. I wasn’t even planning on purchasing either, but in I went to a Space NK and tried the Keihl’s Micro-blur Skin Perfector. I was instantly impressed, so decided I had to finally make my first Space NK purchase. As to the Kiko Long Lasting Stick I’ve been meaning to place an order for a while, but didn’t really want to spend the £25 minimum that you have to. I spotted the store, and of course I couldn’t resist not getting anything.
The Kiehl’s Micro-blur Skin Perfector is essentially a primer but can be used alone to smooth out the complexion. Kiehl’s say this product is a “lightweight skin smoother to instantly refine skin texture and minimize the appearance of pores while improving skin’s quality over time.” The formula “combines an instant blurring effect with long-lasting, visible skincare results.”
First of all, I love the simplicity of the packaging. It is typical Kiehl’s style but look’s so elegant, and is travel-friendly as well. When squeezed out this product is a light orange colour, that feels slightly silicone-y. Applied to the face the silicone-y feel disappears leaving a lovely silky soft texture. I could instantly notice a difference to my pores and felt that my skin looked fairly flawless in texture. This isn’t surprising to me as this is what made me make the purchase in the first place, just try a little on your hand in-store and you will see what I mean.
I do believe the claim to an instant blurring effect is true, same with the product reducing the size of my pores. Unfortunately, I can’t comment on my skin’s texture improving over time as I haven’t been using the product long enough.
Another thing I noticed about this product was the light smell – it’s really refreshing, kind of hard to explain, kind of has a tang of apricot to it.
Kiko’s Long Lasting Stick is an eyeshadow stick that unlike the Rimmel Scandal Eyes Shadow Sticks I mentioned recently, does not need sharpening. You simply have to twist and turn, a feature I love.
Kiko says “the creamy formula ensures extreme flexibility of the line immediately after application. Once set, the colour remains uniform and radiant for up to 8 hours, without streaking or smudging.” It is also supposedly “water-proof.”
The Kiko Long Lasting Eyeshadow Sticks are definitely creamy in texture. They apply with ease on to my lids and are easy to blend using my Zoeva luxe soft defining brush. As to lasting time, I did find they last the 8 hours stated, but also longer, especially if used with a primer. I haven’t noticed any smudging during wear. As to the water-proof claim I can’t comment on this as I haven’t worn the eyeshadow in any water – I might be able to comment on this after my holiday.
So, what do I think? I absolutely love these shadow sticks. As much as I have been enjoying the Rimmel ones I definitely prefer the fact I don’t have to sharpen these. There are some gorgeous colours in the range, and I will definitely be picking up some more next time I come across a Kiko.
As to the Kiehl Micro-blur Skin Perfector I am also loving this product. I love how flawless it appears on my skin, and that it actually keeps my pores filled in for a whole day.
So, two naughty purchases but I am so glad I did buy them. I love them and they have both made me want to try more products from Kiehl’s and Kiko respectively. Have you tried any of these products? What do you think of eyeshadow in a stick format?
