Ever since I heard NYX was going to be coming to Boots I got so excited, but we are yet to have a NYX stand in the Southampton store, which slightly confuses me. However, back in September last year I came across a NYX stall and decided to make the most of it and finally picked a few things up. Some of the products I purchased have become firm favourites, others not so much.
The first thing I picked up was the Dewy Finish Setting Spray – probably the product I was the most excited to try. I simply spritz a few sprays onto my face after applying my makeup and I’m set to go. When first applied I find it tends to make my face quite shiny, but this soon settles down into a lovely dewy finish. I have also found it to help ensure my makeup lasts longer.
Next I went for the HD Studio Foundation, a product I can’t seem to make my mind up about. When I first tried this I absolutely loved the product. I couldn’t say it gave me a HD finish, but it did seem to cover up any imperfections leaving a dewy finish, exactly what I like from my foundations. However, after I got about two thirds of my way through the product I found the foundation to be slipping off my face after roughly three hours, which stopped me picking up this foundation. I don’t know if it’s me or what happened, but I don’t think I would purchase this one again because of this.
To complete my collection of NYX base products I also picked up their HD Concealer. This is a product I absolutely loved and was gutted for it to be finished. I found it had that something extra that not every concealer has, adding that little bit of extra coverage where required and lightening up my under eye area.
I also picked up their Doll Eye Mascara, a mascara designed to create ‘irresistibly fluttery eyelashes.’ In all honesty I didn’t really find this mascara to do this with my lashes, instead it seemed to be a very basic mascara. I found I could see I was wearing mascara, but unfortunately that was about it.
The last couple of products I picked up had to be from their lip collection. The first lip product I went for was the Butter Gloss in the shade Peach Cobbler, a fluorescent pink toned coral colour. Thankfully the shade isn’t quite as bright as it sounds when applied to the lips. It adds a lot of pink pigment with an incredibly glossy finish, which I love. However, I don’t find the colour or product lasts too long on my lips.
The second lip product I picked up was one of their Soft Matte Lip Creams in the shade Zurich, a pink toned neutral shade. I love the finish of this on my lips and how comfortable it feels. Similarly to the Butter Gloss, I don’t find it lasts too long on my lips, but at £5.50 a pop this is definitely something I don’t think needs to be complained about.
Overall, I am so glad I finally picked up some bits from NYX, and think I may need to pick up a few more things soon. I have my eyes on the Lid Lingerie Eye Tints and the Lip Lingerie Lipsticks. My favourite products from this little haul has got to be the HD Concealer and the Soft Matte Lip Cream.
Have you tried anything from NYX? What do I need to purchase next?
