High-end makeup is something I didn’t use to have very much of at all, but over the past few years I have started to pick up a few bits and I now own quite a few high-end products. When I am purchasing a more expensive makeup item I want it to work and tend to read a lot of reviews before purchasing, to try to avoid wasting my money. Obviously there a few products that don’t live up to my expectations but today I thought I would share with you some high-end beauty picks that I think are totally worth the splurge.
Benefit eyebrow products
Eyebrow products are definitely something you can buy for cheaper but I am yet to find anything that I love as much as the Benefit range. The Benefit Brow Zings is an amazing little eyebrow compact that I always go back to, and have been using for four or five years now. I don’t actually use the wax but the powder is fantastic. It is pigmented, long-lasting, and picks up easily onto your eyebrow brush. The product itself lasts for ages too so it may be pricey but it is cost-effective. I have been using my new one pretty much every day since July, and as you can see I’ve barely made a dent.
The Gimme Brow is the other product from this range that I think is worth the splurge. I absolutely love the brush end as it is the perfect size to easily shape your eyebrows. It similarly also lasts all day and is a great one to use to set your eyebrows following another product, or alone if you’re in a rush.
Anastasia Beverly Hills glow kits
This is a product that I wanted for the longest time before I eventually gave in, but I have been in love with it ever since. All four highlighters are so incredibly pigmented and really do add the perfect intense glow. There are drugstore highlighters that I really like but this Anastasia Beverly Hills glow kit is unlike any highlighter palette or individual highlighter I have ever tried. The palettes are totally worth the splurge in my opinion and I’d love to pick up another palette.
I don’t actually own all that many MAC lipsticks but they are a product I absolutely love. The formula of all those that I have tried are incredibly comfortable on the lips and last relatively well. I find the lasting time very much depends on the formula, with mattes lasting the longest. I think for the shade range alone MAC lipsticks are a high-end pick worth the splurge.
Essie nail polish in the shade As If
I’m not sure if Essie counts as high-end but their products definitely cost more than I would usually spend on a nail polish so I’ve decided to go ahead and include it. I hadn’t actually picked up an Essie nail polish in a long time but I spotted this gorgeous shade on Twitter and had to use my Boots points to pick it up. It’s an absolutely gorgeous shade but what shocked me is the fact that this nail polish lasted 6 days on me chip-free! This literally never happens to me, so this particular shade is definitely worth the splurge and I really want to pick up a few more shades to see if this is the case with all of their nail polishes.
Estee Lauder Double Wear Light foundation
After being brave and picking up a sample of this in store earlier in the year I fell in love immediately. I find that a lot of drugstore foundations don’t last all day and often flake around my nose. Sometimes a primer can rectify this but as there isn’t a primer I really love at the moment I often skip this step but still need my makeup to last all day. On those days this is always the foundation I reach for, I can rely on the Estee Lauder Double Wear Light foundation like no other. It is definitely a high-end pick worth the splurge in my opinion.
Urban Decay All Nighter foundation
The Urban Decay All Nighter foundation is the foundation I reach for when I want to feel amazing. It is full coverage and leaves my skin looking incredibly flawless, as well as lasting well. It was a random purchase initially but it is one of my favourite ever high-end picks and is well worth the splurge.
Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm
When this was first released everyone seemed to have it and love it, but it wasn’t until recently when I got hold of a couple of samples that I had a chance to try it. The Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm really is an amazing product worth the splurge. Once applied to your face it literally melts off your makeup and leaves your skin squeaky clean. It was not a product I expected to love as much as I do but it really is a lovely product.
Clinique High Impact mascara
Mascara is a product that I have never understood why you would purchase a high-end mascara, that was until I tried this mascara, the Clinique High Impact mascara. I like my mascara to add volume, definition and length, all things that this mascara does so well. It is an amazing mascara.
