Since the opening of West Quay South in Southampton we have had so much choice for food from multiple restaurants, but there have also been quite a few restaurants opening outside of the city centre too. A recent addition is Vospers, which is based in the Centenary Plaza, a restaurant brought to you by the founders of Mettricks.
A group of us were lucky enough to be invited down last month for a complimentary meal and cocktail masterclass.
When we arrived the first thing I had to do was of course take a wander around the restaurant, whilst taking a photo of all the lovely interior details. The venue is full of nautical details showing you some of the history of the area, I absolute loved the attention to detail. The wall of photographs above is definitely one of my favourite features.
After we had all had a look around we were treated to a cocktail masterclass by Roger. I absolutely love cocktails so loved this extra aspect as it added something a little bit different to our evening. Roger, our cocktail masterclass leader, was great showing two people at a time how to make various cocktails. The first one we made was The Last Word, a very grown-up tasting gin cocktail with a sharp tang on the end.
Throughout the evening we also got the opportunity to make a couple more cocktails. As I was driving I didn’t make these but I did get to make a mocktail, a very fruity tasting one which was so refreshing.
As to the meal I went for the Vospers burger* with sweet potato chips*. The Vospers is a buttermilk breaded fried chicken burger with avocado, crunchy slaw and roasted garlic mayo, and is priced at £8. I opted to have the chicken burger without the sauces as I’m fussy, but I have to say the burger was absolutely amazing. The chicken was tender, and mixed with the buttermilk breadcrumbs worked incredibly well. The sweet potato chips were delicious too.
I absolutely loved my visit to Vospers, and I can’t thank them and Alice enough for inviting me. It has a lovely chilled atmosphere so is the perfect place to go after work for a bite to eat if you’re about in Southampton.
What’s your favourite local restaurant to eat at? Would you enjoy a cocktail masterclass?
