2018 goals, & a look back at 2017 goals

2018 goals
So, it’s officially 2018, does anyone else think that’s absolutely crazy? 2017 has been the year of so many things, including me finally getting back into blogging regularly and pushing myself more than ever, but it’s also the year I got engaged to the love of my life and travelled quite a bit. If you want to have a read of my 2017 highlights click here, but for now it’s a time to have a look at the goals I set back in October and set myself some new goals for 2018.

A look back at 2017 goals

The goals I set for 2017 were actually set quite late, at the end of October, and I haven’t completed all of them but I’m getting there and working towards those I haven’t yet achieved.

Meal plan more regularly say Monday – Friday

This one started off ever so well when it was first set, but this is definitely one we haven’t stuck too and need to carry on working on. We have a tendency to suddenly decide to go shopping when we’ve literally run out of everything so then don’t have the time to plan what we’re going to pick up and decide as we go, which we need to stop doing.

Have more ‘me’ time

As I mentioned when I set this goal I’m terrible at relaxing and just completely switching off, and at the moment I don’t think this has got any better. I have been making more ‘me’ time, but the last few months at the end of 2017 were a struggle, and I felt burnt out and like I really really needed a break too often. I need to ensure I start doing more of the things that help me when I’m feeling burnt out, before I get to that stage. I think this one is going to be a key goal for 2018.

Have a look at all things wedding related

I can definitely say we’ve done this, we’ve looked at two venues so far and are planning on looking at a few more this year at the kind of event where you spend a day viewing a load of different wedding venues in one area. The ones we have seen were incredibly helpful as it’s started to give us more of a guide to a price, and one of the venues we are considering, where as the other one we knew wasn’t right for us immediately.

Complete Blogmas

I can’t believe I actually I achieved this one but I can happily say I did, and this was something I absolutely loved doing even if it was stressful. I loved creating the content and I’m happy with all of the posts I published. If you read some or all of these then a big thank you, it really means the world.

Focus on my social media channels

Numbers wise I wanted to reach 1,750 on Twitter, 1,000 on Instagram, 500 on Pinterest, 100 on Facebook and 900 on Bloglovin. I achieved the Twitter, Facebook and Instagram numbers so 3 out of 5 which I’m incredibly happy with and thankful for.

Get my Project Life up to date

I’m not quite there with this but I’m so close, I’ve completed another 4 and a half months and only have December and half of November 2016 to go. I’d love to have been up to date but I’m okay with where I am and know that this will soon be finished and I can start working on 2017.

Have an unbelievably amazing holiday in Iceland

I sure did, it was an absolutely incredible holiday with so many spectacular views, I’m soo glad we went.

2018 goals

And onto 2018…

Setting goals are something that I love to set as it really does make me work towards said goals, so here are my goals for 2018. You’ll probably notice that there are quite a few goals blogging-wise as I’m planning to work crazy hard and push myself even further to continue growing my little area of the internet.

Continue having more ‘me’ time

As I mentioned above I’ve been struggling a little bit so I really want to focus on having more ‘me’ time and making sure I’m looking after myself. It’s so easy to carry on with life without taking the time you need for yourself and forgetting self-care, so I want to ensure this is a focus.

Carry on focusing on my social media channels and growing my blog

Since getting back into blogging at the end of February and really focusing I’ve noticed a massive improvement numbers wise and I would love for this to continue. Numbers-wise, perhaps ambitious, but I would love to reach 5,000 followers on Twitter, 5,000 followers on Instagram, 1,500 on Bloglovin, 1,000 on Pinterest, 500 on Facebook and 10,000 monthly page views.

Post more lifestyle content

You have probably noticed that this is something that I have been posting a lot more over the last couple of months, and after a Twitter poll saying you want to see more of this, I really want to try and post more lifestyle content, perhaps one post a week. My beauty posts won’t be disappearing but I have been really enjoying writing lifestyle posts so I plan on introducing more.

Move to WordPress

I will be jumping for joy the day I do this, as Blogger unfortunately drives me crazy, especially with the formatting, so I want to move to WordPress by the end of 2018.

Start making use of Instagram stories more

Instagram stories where I am talking are something that scares the life out of me, but after attending the Blogosphere Christmas Festival I’ve made a decision that this is something I want to do more of, hopefully in time becoming more confident. I’ve started this already in December and filmed a couple of videos of me getting ready, but I still feel like a crazy person speaking to myself, but there you go.

Donate platelets if I can

I’ve actually never even donated blood but this is something that I really want to do if I can, donating platelets can help many people, including people with leukaemia or other cancers who don’t have enough blood platelets after treatment. Having lost my dad when I was younger to cancer, anything cancer related is extremely close to my heart, and as only half the amount of people able to be blood donors can donate platelets I would love to make a difference if I can.

Clear my student overdraft once and for all

I’ve been so close to clearing this several times but after one thing and another it just hasn’t been, and I really want to end 2018 with no overdraft.

Start saving for adult things

Leading on from the previous point I really want to start building up some savings with Luke, we have a lot of things we want to do that require a fair bit of money so this would be a fantastic help towards those things.

Travel more of the UK

Travelling is something that I absolutely love to do, but with the saving goals in mind, we’re only planning on going on one holiday this year at the cheaper end of the spectrum. With that being said, I think 2018 is the perfect year to start exploring the UK more.

Get a tattoo

Finally, a super random goal, but I’ve wanted a tattoo since I was 16 and I am still yet to do this at 25. 2018 is the year I plan on hopefully doing this, even if it’s just a small one.
