New skincare additions

New skincare additions

Since upping my skincare game last year I have started to enjoy skincare much more than I ever have before. Skincare always felt like a chore previously, but it is now something I really enjoy doing in the evening to start to unwind before getting into bed. That being said, I’ve picked up a few new skincare products lately so today’s post is all about the new skincare additions in my collection.

The Ordinary new skincare

The Ordinary

The first product I picked up is a product that I’ve wanted to try ever since it was first announced but I have only just got my hands on it, it is The Ordinary’s Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Lotion. It’s a toning solution designed to provide mild exfoliation to improve skin radiance and visible clarity, and with ingredients similar to the famous Pixi Glow Tonic I had to try it. I only started using this in the last few weeks but I’m already impressed, I had a few angry blemishes just before the Christmas period and this seemed to really help calm them down. It’s early days but if I continue to get results I can see this fast becoming a ‘must have’ skincare product for me.

I also picked up The Ordinary’s Salicylic Acid 2% Solution due to the angry blemishes. This one contains salicylic acid if you hadn’t guessed, which is known to fight blemishes and calm them down. I haven’t actually tried this one yet as I’m a little scared that my skin might react, but if it does help to fight blemishes then it will be a great one to pop on when my skin pops a spot up.

The last product I picked up from The Ordinary had to be their Hyaluronic Acid, a long-term favourite of mine. I absolutely love this one and I’m so glad to have it back in my life. I find it really helps my skins drier areas and helps ensure my moisturiser provides the maximum moisture possible. It’s an essential to me, and one that I really think everyone needs to try if you haven’t already.

Botanics new skincare additions

As part of being an ambassador for Boots Botanics I was lucky enough to receive a few items as a Christmas gift, with the first being the Botanics Hydration Burst Dual Action Cleanser*. I’ve just started using a L’Oreal one so I’m actually yet to try this but I can’t wait too. It’s a gel formula that transforms into a skin-comforting milk on contact with water, and is designed to cleanse your skin without leaving it feeling dry or irritated. This sounds perfect for my normal but dry skin.

Next up is the Botanics Radiant Youth Hydrating Eye Cream*, a product I have been using and loving. This eye cream is said to help with fine lines and dark circles leaving a more illuminated under eye appearance, and whilst I can’t comment on the fine lines part it really does seem to leave my eyes slightly brighter. It sinks in quickly and is the first eye cream I’ve enjoyed in a while, so one definitely worth a look and one that I will continue using.

The final product I received from Botanics was their Radiant Youth Replenishing Night cream*, a moisturiser that’s designed to be incredibly moisturising and has hyaluronic within. Considering how much I love The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid I can’t wait to use this alongside and see if I notice a difference. I’m just finishing up my current night cream so it’ll only be a few days before I start using this one.

Origins new skincare additions

The last skincare addition I’ve picked up lately is this little face mask set from Origins. Every year I debate picking up their Christmas mask set but never take the plunge, but this year when there was a sale I finally gave in and I’m so excited to try everything. The set comes with three masks and even a little headband to keep your hair off your face.

The only product I’ve tried before is the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight, a product that I actually ran out of ages ago and I’m so unbelievably glad to have it back in my life. It really does allow your skin to drink in a load of extra moisture, I can always tell the difference in the morning. My only problem is I’m tempted to reach for this daily as opposed to the two to three times a week that you’re supposed to use it.

The Origins Retexturizing mask with rose clay was the one in the collection I had never really considered purchasing previously, but I look forward to trying it. It contains Mediterranean rose clay, Canadian Willow Herb and exfoliating jojoba beads and is said to deep clean the skin while refining your skin’s texture, resulting in pores disappearing and an instant glow. If this mask lives up to the name it sounds like a perfect mask to use before an evening out, and I absolutely love anything rose so I love that it is rose scented too.

The final mask is another one I can’t wait to try and is the Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal mask. It is designed to deep clean your pores and really clean your skin; it is one that I have heard so much about. I’m yet to try it but I’m really curious if it will live up to its name and also if it compares with the L’Oreal Pure Clay mask.

Have you picked up any new skincare additions lately? Have you tried any of the products I’ve mentioned?
