Self-care is something that I think a lot of us forget sometimes. We get busy with our everyday lives and forget to take that time for ourselves, but it’s important to slow down sometimes and take care of ourselves, so we don’t end up getting burnt out. That being said, today’s post is all about 5 self-care ideas to slow down.
HAVE A LAZY PYJAMA DAY
Laying in and staying in your pyjama’s all day may leave you feeling less productive but sometimes it is just something you need. A few hours of extra sleep really can make the world of difference, as can not getting dressed and not properly getting ready. It’s one less thing to think about and really forces you to slow down, chill and focus on you.
HAVE A BLOWDRY OR BEAUTY TREATMENT
Ahh, this is a sneak peak of Friday’s post all about the first blow-dry salon in Southampton, but I had the most amazing time at an event the other week, and it really made me realise how this is something I’d love to do more often. Having someone else do your hair or nails means you don’t have to worry about it, and you can really enjoy the experience. It may take a little longer, but isn’t that what self-care is about, taking time for you?
SWITCH OFF YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA
Social media is something that we’re so active on now that it can be good to step away sometimes, even if this is only for half an hour. I don’t know about you but I often find I’m endlessly scrolling and flicking between the fast-paced social media accounts when really, there is no need too. Stepping away allows you to forget about social media and focus solely on something else for yourself, be that a book or your loved ones around you.
GO FOR A SPA DAY
Going for a spa day is something I really wish I did more often, it’s something that always instantly relaxes me. I can step away from everyday life and just enjoy the moment. Whether it’s simply a swim at your local spa’s swimming pool or an entire day including a massage I can guarantee it is something that you won’t regret.
GO OUTSIDE AND WATCH THE SUN SET OR RISE
Watching the sunrise is something I personally don’t often do as I’m not a morning person, but I know it is something I love. I do however love watching the sun set. Watching the pretty colours in the sky immediately brings me a sense of calm and is one of my favourite self-care ideas to slow down.
