I like to play around with creating different makeup looks, especially eye makeup looks, but on a typical work morning this doesn’t always tend to happen. I’m the least morning person ever and I like my sleep, so today I thought I would share with you my daily makeup routine for those working days.
I typically start with my foundation and tend to pump one and a half pumps on my hand. I then use my Eco Tools Skin Perfecting brush to apply my foundation all over my face, starting with one half at a time. My favourite foundation at the moment is The Ordinary Coverage foundation, a medium to full coverage foundation, which I recently mentioned in my August favourites.
I will then go in with my concealer under my eyes, around my nose and on my chin. The one I’ve been using daily lately is the Maybelline Eraser Eye concealer. This definitely isn’t my favourite but it is a great everyday concealer that adds a little bit of extra coverage where I feel I need it, and it lasts well too.
To finish my base I like to set my eyelids, under my eyes, around my nose and chin with the No 7 Perfect Light Loose powder. I find that this stops my eyes from creasing and helps keep my foundation on my nose. I tend to use my Eyeshadow Blending brush from The Body Shop to do this.
Following this I start on my eyebrows, using The Body Shop Slanted brush alongside my much lovedBenefit Brow Zings. The slanted brush is actually the only brush I have ever used on my eyebrows, it’s a great brush which works amazingly to create the perfect eyebrow shape, if that’s even possible!
As I often don’t have the time to do a complete eye look I like to add at least something, so often go for simply one colour. An eyeshadow that I have been reaching for constantly is the Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in the shade muse, an eyeshadow which not only stays on all day but also blends out really easily, making it look like you have put in a lot more effort than you actually have. I have also been reaching for the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer from the Hourglass Surreal Light Ambient Lighting Edit and using this across my eyelid. As the bronzer has a baked effect I find this adds some definition to my eyes, and similarly it looks like I’ve done a lot more than I actually have.
Having completed my eyes and eyebrows, I then set my eyebrows with the Benefit Ready, Set, Brow and apply my mascara, the L’Oreal False Lash Sculpt mascara. I love using the Benefit Brow as it keeps my eyebrows in place all day, while the L’oreal mascara adds so much length, and a bit of volume to the lashes. L’Oreal mascaras are definitely my favourite.
Once I’ve got this far I’ll sometimes skip to the final step, lips, but if I have time I do like to add some bronzer, blusher and highlight to my face. I’ve been reaching for the Hourglass Surreal Light Ambient Lighting Edit every single day recently. I love using the powder on the areas I haven’t applied my loose powder to, to add a healthy glow, followed by applying the bronzer shade in a 3 shape to add some colour. I then like to use the lightest blusher, a nude, peachy-pink shade followed by the highlighter.
I use The Body Shop Powder brush for my powder, the second brush for my bronzer (unknown brand, brought from eBay), the Spectrum A05 brush for my blusher, and the Spectrum A04 brush for my highlight. The brush on the end in the photo is the Spectrum A08 brush and is the one I use when I use the bronzer as an eyeshadow.
The last step is my favourite of this daily makeup routine and is the lip step. As this is an everyday look I find the lipstick can completely transform the look depending on what lipstick I choose to go for. My favourites lately have been Chanel Rouge Coco lipstick in the shade 17 Orchidee, a pinky-red shade, the Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G. lipstick in the shade Bitch Perfect, a peachy-nude shade, and the Colourpop Ultra Satin Liquid Lipstick in the shade Alyssa, a dusty nude rose shade.
And that’s the end of my daily makeup routine and I’m ready to go. I can do this entire routine in about 10-15 minutes so it’s perfect for those work mornings. What makeup products do you tend to use on a working day? Have you tried any of the products I have mentioned?
